Inspections

Your Trusted Partner for Access Equipment Safety

Why Inspections Matter

Safe working at height depends on equipment that’s fit for purpose and proved safe to use—every time. Global Platforms provides independent, compliant inspections across MEWPs, scaffold towers, access towers, mobile scaffold towers, aluminium scaffold towers, bespoke access platforms and related safety gear. Our inspections align with PUWER 1998 and Work at Height Regulations 2005 (WAHR), with clear, action-focused reporting so you can close out findings quickly and keep projects moving.

    What we inspect

    • MEWPs & Powered Access – Cherry pickers (boom lifts), scissor lifts, tracked spider MEWPs, truck mounts (visual/functional checks, safety systems, decals, docs).
    • Scaffolding & Towers – Fixed scaffolds, mobile access towers, aluminium scaffold tower builds, stairwell scaffold, edge protection and scaffold stairs (including tag status).
    • Bespoke & Modular Platforms – Permanent and modular access platforms, gantries, vehicle/plant platforms, roof and pit boards.
    • Ancillary WAH Equipment – Harness & lanyard visual checks, anchor points, gates/chain barriers, signage, and access/egress routes.

    Repairs & Maintenance

Our technicians carry common parts and can resolve many items there and then (switches, decals, guards, tags, fixings). Complex work goes to our depot for rapid turnaround. We’ll re-inspect and update certificates once works are complete, so your access platforms and scaffold platforms return to service quickly.

    Coverage & Response

We cover the North West England and North Wales (and travel further by agreement) with planned routes and short-notice support when you need it most.

    How our inspection service works

    • Plan & Schedule – Share site locations, assets and availability; we batch visits to minimise downtime.
    • On-Site Inspection – Competent inspectors complete systematic checks, function tests and documentation review.
    • Report & Tag – You receive a digital report with pass/fail status, photos and remedial actions; equipment is tagged/updated.
    • Close-Out Support – Minor issues can often be fixed on site. For bigger repairs, we can transport to our depot and return to service fast.
    • Compliance Pack – Certificates, logs and next-due dates in one place—ideal for audits and client handovers.

PUWER 1998 – Suitability, maintenance, inspection, and user information. WAHR 2005 – Planning, competence, and the right equipment for working at height. Best Practice – Manufacturer guidance, site rules, and practical usability (guardrails, toe boards, anti-slip, access/egress). Record-Keeping – Time-stamped digital certificates, findings, and reminders ahead of next due dates.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Which Equipment Can You Inspect?

MEWPs (boom, scissor, tracked spider MEWPs, truck mounts), scaffold towers, mobile scaffold towers, aluminium scaffold tower setups, bespoke platforms, gantries, edge protection and stair/landing access.

How Often Should Towers And Scaffolds Be Inspected?

For most sites, after installation, every 7 days, and after alteration or severe weather—consistent with WAHR and best practice. We’ll set a simple schedule and tag system.

Do You Inspect MEWP's In Service On Site?

Yes—visual/functional checks, control/emergency systems, guards/decals, manuals and logbooks. We also verify that daily pre-use checks are being completed by operators.

Can You Repair Issues During The Visit?

Often. We carry common parts and can complete minor fixes immediately. If depot work is needed, we’ll uplift, repair and return quickly, then re-inspect and certify.

Do You Provide Certificates And Reminders?

Yes—digital certificates with photos and findings, plus next-due reminders so nothing lapses. Ideal for client audits and principal contractor checks.

Can You Inspect Bespoke Access Platforms And Vehicle/Plant Platforms?

Absolutely—freestanding, bridging and modular access platforms, vehicle roof/CAB platforms and gantries are part of our routine scope.

Do You Tag Towers And Platforms After Inspection?

Yes—clear pass/fail tagging (with dates/next due) so users and supervisors can see status at a glance.

What If We Fail An Inspection?

You’ll receive a clear actions list prioritised by risk. Where safe to do so, we can remediate immediately; otherwise we’ll quarantine the asset and schedule repair.

Can You Align Inspections With Our Shutdowns Or Night Shifts?

Yes—we plan around shutdowns/turnarounds or out-of-hours windows to minimise disruption and keep production on track.

Do You Inspect Small Towers For Homeowners Or Small Contractors?

We do—scaffold tower hire users and small builders benefit from independent checks, especially for complex footprints or stairwell scaffold.
